How To Come Up With Catchy Education-Related Dissertation Ideas
Dissertations that are related to education are not normally what one would consider to be "catchy". When you think about ideas that focus on education and nothing jumps out at you, you are not alone. Choosing a topic for any paper is difficult, especially if your professor was not kind enough to give you some type of direction or suggestions.
So how do you come up with some ideas for consideration that are at least mildly exciting? It may not be quite as hard as you thought. Here are a few points to keep in mind:
- Push the envelope: Simply put, this means that you need to think of something which goes above and beyond what has been done before. If there is a particular paper that you admire, ask yourself if you can do something different with it.
- Never use a "yes " or "no" question: Even though the theory behind the question may be great, if there is only one answer you will severely be limiting yourself. Ask the question - but expand on it until you have left yourself with plenty of options.
- Not every question is a good one: If you are going into completely uncharted territory, ask yourself why. If every other researcher has stayed miles away from your questions, there may well be a good reason. Even if it sounds great when you say it out loud, try to do a little bit of advance thinking to save yourself major headaches down the road.
- Make your topic "sexy": Let's face it - sexy is catchy and interesting. While the topic does not actually have to be about sex, although it could be if you related it to sex education, try to work a spin on it that makes everyone sit up and take notice!
